UV Protection With Sports Sunglasses

On a hot sunny day sunglasses are obviously a comfort to wear on the eyes, however even when the sun is not shining brightly, UV rays passing through foggy, hazy or cloudy conditions can damage your eyes.  Choosing the right sunglasses can improve vision under these conditions and help save your eyes from damage.

Ultraviolet solar radiation (UV) is the most damaging light in the spectrum and for this reason sunglasses are designed to block it…at least good quality sunglasses do.  Many cheap sunglasses without full UV protection actually dialate the eyes with their dark lenses but let the UV rays penetrate the eyes, causing more damage than good.  It’s important that you wear 100% UV protection sunglasses when outdoors.

Extreme sports and adventure sports athletes can suffer more eye damage from UV rays because at high altitudes sun rays are hundreds of times more intense than at sea level due to the thinner atmosphere, and reflections off snow, water and sand also amplify the power of the UV rays considerably.

OCEAN sport sunglasses are developed not only to block all UV rays when doing sports, but to withstand impacts and abuse that can occur during these extreme sports adventures.
